Acting Scholarships

Acting Class Scholarship in Honour of Kirby Morrow

Story Institute is proud to offer a full-ride scholarship for one lucky student each academic year. Kirby Morrow has been a foundational part of Story Institute, instructing, mentoring and creating what we are today. Kirby was top of his game in both voice acting and traditional acting on screen. You’ll probably have heard of him in one of his many guises, Michaelangelo in Ninja Turtles, Ninjago, DragonBall Z, X-Men, Transformers, Inuyasha, Class of the TItans, Carebears, Lego Starwars, Parked, the list goes on as he was such a well-loved voice! We would be honoured to carry on his spirit, by giving a student a chance to thrive as an actor. Here’s how to apply:

Applicants can receive a full ride scholarship for one semester.  Eligibility Criteria Must be enrolled to Professional Working Actor Program (12 month)Must audition in person

Kirby Morrow was one of the most iconic voice actors of his time. He was also an award winning actor, writer, director, and stand up comic. He was a founding teacher of Story Institute and his legacy will continue to live on through his students, his fans, his family, his friends, and every life he touched.

Step 1: Choose a charity or organization you would like to volunteer at for 4 hours a month.

Step 2: Fill out this quick form below and tell us more about why you've chosen this organization.

Step 3: Hit 'SEND' (Seriously, that's it.)

APPLY HERE:  Volunteer 4 hours a month, over the course of the 12 months you are training in our diploma programs and receive $2,000 back at graduation.

Applicants can receive a $2,000 scholarship Eligibility Criteria Must be enrolled to Professional Working Actor Program (12 month)

Must complete application (contact school admin)Must successfully complete 40 hours of volunteering work while studying

Rising Star Scholarship

Rising Star Scholarship Applicants can receive a $3,000 scholarship

Eligibility Criteria Must be enrolled to Professional Working Actor Program (12 month)

Must demonstrate satisfactory progress and academic excellence (quantitative and qualitative elevation)

Must submit application and meet deadlines

*deadline: upon completion of first semester and up to 4 weeks after the start of 2nd semester

Scholarships for Indigenous Students
Who are the Indigenous peoples in Canada? They are the descendants of the original inhabitants of North America. The words Aboriginal, Native and Indigenous refer to the same groups of people. The Canadian Constitution recognizes three different groups of Aboriginal people: First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. These are three separate peoples with unique heritages, languages, cultural practices and spiritual beliefs.

Provincial Scholarships - Basic Eligibility Requirements

  1. Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident (landed immigrant) at the time of registration in the school year for which the scholarship is awarded
  2. Be a B.C. resident
  3. Be or have been in the school year for which the scholarship is awarded:
  4. Enrolled in a British Columbia public school (including Distributed Learning schools),
  5. Enrolled in a Group 1, 2, or 4 British Columbia Independent School, 
  6. Enrolled in a Continuing Education Centre,
  7. Registered with a public, independent, francophone or distributed learning school in B.C. as a homeschooled child
  8. Be graduating in the same year the scholarship is awarded (by August 31)
  9. Meet the selection criteria for each scholarship
