BC Medical Insurance is required by law for all students, international as well as Canadian, through the Medical Services Plan of B.C. Students from outside British Columbia and international students should apply for B.C. Medical insurance once arriving and establishing an address in BC. Forms are available on Medical Services Plan website. Coverage starts three months after the month in which you apply so International students on visas should apply upon arrival and establishing a BC address. During the waiting period, your former insurance policy may cover you or you can arrange for private insurance through any broker for your first three months in BC.

Story Institute’s regular operating hours are 7 days a week 9am – 11pm. Special workshops, casting sessions, and other events may require the studio to remain open longer or permit it to close earlier.

No visitors are allowed during school hours unless they are officially auditing a program. Visitors are not permitted to operate any of the equipment. If you wish for us to consider exceptions to this rule please submit a request the Senior Educational Administrator for consideration.

In the event of an emergency evacuation, all people in the building will exit through the front or rear doors of the building and meet at Tractor located at 601 W Broadway #20, Vancouver, BC V5Z 4C2. A head count will be taken by the senior staff member or instructor on site and the emergency services will be contacted.

A First Aid kit is available at the reception desk. Please report any incidents to someone on staff as soon as possible and fill out an Incident Report form. Please ensure you include updated phone and email information for your emergency contacts in the unlikely event that we ever need to contact them as the result of an emergency.

In the event of an emergency, please notify a staff member or call 911.

If you are aware of any dangers that exist in the building generally or within our operating areas then please let us know immediately.

Story Institute is covered by a public liability insurance policy that is expressly limited to the school’s premises. All other areas are the insured responsibility of the landlord and their parties or intermediaries.
